To-dos
A column of sticky notes beside the manuscript — the same list the Outliner keeps, drawn as cards.

Open To-dos from the main toolbar and a column of coloured square cards appears down the left of the page. There is no panel around them — no background, no border, just the cards — and they sit behind the manuscript and behind every other panel, so nothing you are writing is ever covered. The page does not move when they open, and they stay open alongside anything else.
- 1Click the To-dos button in the main toolbar, beside Chapter Notes.
- 2Press + to add a card — it lands at the top, ready to type in.
- 3Write a short title, then the task itself in the middle of the card.
- 4Use + on the card to tag the chapter, character, place, faction, item, or research document it is about.
- 5Pick a colour from the circle in the corner, and set the status from the top-left.
The Card
- Status in the top-left — To do, In progress, Done, or Deferred, exactly as in the Outliner
- A title line, then the task itself in large text; both are written in place
- Eight pastel colours, or any colour you like from the picker
- Tags along the bottom as small icons — hover one to read its name
- Click a tag to move to that chapter, or to open the panel on that exact character, location, faction, item, or research document
The Same List as the Outliner
A to-do is an Outliner intention wearing a different coat. Tag a card to a chapter and it appears under that chapter in the Outliner; leave it untagged and it sits at the top. Anything you write in the Outliner shows up here as a card. There is nothing to sync and no second list to keep in step.
Finding Things
- The list is global — every to-do in the book, in manuscript order, with the untagged ones first
- The dropdown narrows the column to one chapter, or to the ones in no chapter at all
- The filter button ticks whole sources on and off: your own cards, revision notes filed by Chapter Analysis, items filed by a Manuscript Lens pass
- Whatever the filter shows is remembered for that book
Ordering
New cards go to the top. To move one, press its Move button and the gaps between the cards become drop slots — the same gesture as moving a paragraph. Drop a card among a chapter's to-dos and it joins that chapter; drop it among the untagged ones and it leaves. Press Escape to change your mind.
Reading a Long List
The column has no scrollbar. Roll the wheel anywhere over it, or grab a card and throw the list — it carries on and settles, the way a stack of paper would.
Deleting a card, or removing one of its tags, always asks first — the tag is often the only record of why the task exists.
