ChapterMuse runs as a proper desktop application, not a browser tab. That means it launches from your Start menu or Dock, keeps its own window, and stores your manuscripts locally on your machine — so it's quick to open and never loses your place.

- 1Download the installer for your platform from chaptermuse.com.
- 2Run the installer and follow the prompts — it takes under a minute.
- 3Launch ChapterMuse from your Start menu (Windows) or Applications (Mac).
- 4Sign in with your ChapterMuse account to get started.
System Notes
- Windows is available from the Microsoft Store. ChapterMuse for Mac is coming soon — choose Mac on the download page and leave your email to request a launch notification
- The Windows Store app uses the shared Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen Runtime, normally already installed. If it is missing, a Windows dialog opens Microsoft’s download page and lets you retry after installation. That one-time setup requires internet access; normal offline use does not
- The Mac build supports macOS 13 Ventura and newer, with native window controls and Apple Silicon, Intel, and universal packaging
- Your manuscripts live on your own computer — nothing is uploaded, and the app is quick to open
- Works fully without an internet connection — on a plane, in a cabin, anywhere
- New versions ship as fresh installers — download and run the latest one from chaptermuse.com whenever you want to update; your work and your licence stay exactly where they are
