Sometimes the right atmosphere helps the words flow. Background Zen places a subtle image behind your writing page — a genre mood or a specific environment — and crossfades gently between choices. Each book remembers its own backdrop, so stepping into a manuscript can feel like stepping into its world.

- 1Open your avatar menu and choose Background Zen (a book must be open).
- 2Expand Genres or Environments.
- 3Click an image — it fades in behind your page immediately.
- 4Choose Blank any time to return to a plain background.
Choosing a Backdrop
- Genre backdrops — moods tuned to fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, romance, and more
- Environment backdrops — specific settings like forests, cities, and castles
- Selections crossfade smoothly, with no jarring flash
- Each book keeps its own backdrop, remembered between sessions
- Blank clears the backdrop and shows your page colour alone
